Week 2: Practical Strategies for Reading Aloud Every Day

How does a busy, overwhelmed homeschool parent make time to read aloud every day, and why should she even try? This workshop will light a fire under you to make reading aloud a priority, and give you a set of practical tips for fitting in read-aloud, regardless of the time or season of life you’re in. By the end of the session, you’ll have encountered a variety of creative ways to make reading aloud a part of your family life.
Week 3: Choosing Books & Troubleshooting Common Struggles

You walk into a library or bookstore and are instantly bombarded with a variety of books- some look promising, others look like junk (and indeed, they very well may be). We’re busy homeschooling parents- we don’t have time to wade through stacks of books to find the very best ones! How do we know which titles are worth our time? In this workshop, you’ll receive a recommended list of books and booklists to help streamline your efforts, and discover a set of questions you can ask about any book to quickly see if it might be worth your time. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel- a lot of the legwork has been done for you. Learn how to choose excellent books for your homeschool and troubleshoot common struggles parents face when building up a family culture around books.
